Obituary

Bobby Dean Smedley, age 61, of Jacksonville, Florida, formerly of Morehead, passed away Tuesday, February 7, 2017, at the North Florida South Georgia Veterans Health System in Gainesville, Florida. Born April 12, 1955, in Clearfield, he was a son of the late James L. and Loretta Conn Smedley. Bobby is survived by his brother and sister-in-law, Jerry and Judy Smedley of Jacksonville, Florida; five nieces and nephews: David York, John and Wendy Smedley, Jennifer and Howard Manning, Jason and Amanda Wells, and Andy Wells; 15 great nieces and nephews: Alex, Sage, Logan and Eric York, Jayde, Jordyn, Samuel, Jaymeson, and Jensyn Smedley, Jonas, Jaxon, Allison, and Joah Wells, and Hannah and Henry Manning; and many friends. He served in the U.S. Army from 1973 to 1977 and graduated from Rowan County High school in 1973 and attended Morehead State University. Bobby was an AFLAC insurance agent and high school and college sports official. As an umpire, he was inducted into the Kentucky High School Softball Hall of Fame. Funeral services will be conducted 3 p.m. Saturday, February 11, 2017, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with Brother Gary Madden officiating. Burial will follow in Clearfield Cemetery with full military honors presented by Morehead American Legion Post No. 126. Visitation is after 5 p.m. Friday, February 10, 2017, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals in Morehead. Visitation: Friday, February 10, 2017, after 5 p.m. Funeral: Saturday, February 11, 2017, at 3 p.m. Interment: Clearfield Cemetery
