Obituary

Bobby "Bob" Earl Dyer, age 77, of US 60 West, Morehead, Kentucky, passed away Friday, October 3, 2025, at his home surrounded by loved ones.

Born July 11, 1948, in Ashland, Kentucky, he was the son of the late Fred Dyer and Rosa Barnett Dyer.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, John Dyer and Darrel Dyer, and two sisters, Wanda Hollan and Elizabeth Pennington.

Bob is survived by his devoted wife, Betty Jean Parks Dyer, whom he wed on June 19, 1996; two sons, Robert Dyer and Cindy of Fort Worth, Texas, and Kenneth Dyer and Sadie of Flower Mound, Texas; one daughter, Erica Macey and John of Temple, Texas; one stepdaughter, Wilma West and Gary of Stanton; 11 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Others to cherish his memory include one brother, Larry Dyer and Nadine of Lexington; one sister, Carolyn Ford and Jerry of Inman, South Carolina, as well as extended family, including his church family, and many good friends.

Bob proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force from 1967-73 and was honorably discharged as a staff sergeant.  In addition to the military, Bob enjoyed working for companies in Georgia and Arkansas before returning to Kentucky. He graduated from the Kentucky Tech--Central Campus, where he majored in Bio-Medical Equipment Technology and spent the remainder of his career as a bio-medical technician for the Veterans Administration, U.K. Medical Center, and St. Claire HealthCare.

He was passionate about every endeavor.  He coached basketball for eight years during the time his children were playing, sang in the school choir and enjoyed being involved in church activities.  A member of Sharkey Baptist Church for more than 25 years, Bob was a tireless worker.  He loved everything about the church, and he and Betty were nearly always the first to arrive and last to leave.  He served the church in many capacities and thoroughly enjoyed videoing church services and funerals.   Bob will be greatly missed and remembered by those who knew him.
