Birdie E. Johnson Crowe, age 96, of West Sun Street, Morehead, Kentucky, passed away Wednesday, November 6, 2013, at St. Claire Regional Medical Center in Morehead. Born December 17, 1916, in Fayette County, Kentucky, she was the daughter of the late Graham Gilgrest Johnson and Birdie Christina Wesselman Johnson. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by siblings, Elmer Ray Johnson, Charles 'Pete' Johnson, Graham Johnson, Ada Marie Johnson, Harold Johnson, and Mary Pickett. Birdie's husband of almost 66 years, William Allen Crowe, whom she married May 2, 1946, passed away April 14, 2012. She is survived by two daughters, Janet Crowe Irvine and husband Craig of Georgetown, Kentucky, and Alanda Sue Crowe Christian and husband John of Junction City, Ohio, as well as a dear friend and cousin who was considered a daughter, Mallie Wells Adkins and husband Mike of Morehead, Kentucky; three grandchildren and their spouses, Suzette and Charles Shuster, Deanna and Jeremy Massey, and David Allen and Jessica Christian; five great grandchildren, Abby Dickerson, Alison Dickerson, Novalye Christian, C. J. Shuster, and Zoey Jane Massey; and special family friend, Shirley Hardin Anderson. Birdie had been a dietician at St. Claire Regional Medical Center, a salesperson at Deane's Jewelry, and retired from C & H Rauch as an assistant manager. She was a member of the First Christian Church. Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Saturday, November 9, 2013, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with Dr. Jack Ellis officiating. Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Saturday, November 9, 2013, at Georgetown Cemetery, Georgetown, Kentucky, with Buford Feltner officiating. Pallbearers: John Christian, Craig Irvine, Mike Adkins, David Christian, Jeremy Massey, Charles Shuster, Bill Stevens, Orlie Wright Jr., Graham Johnson Jr., Jim McKinney, Danny Towles, and Louis Dean Johnson. Visitation is 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Friday, November 8, 2013, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals in Morehead.
