Billy Joe Williamson, Jr., age 54, of Lexington, KY, a WLEX graphic designer, passed away Saturday, May 11, 2024, at U.K. Medical Center in Lexington, following an automobile accident.
Born December 4, 1969, in Morehead, he is the son of Billy Williamson, Sr., and Juanita Shepherd Williamson. In addition to his parents, he is survived by one brother, Michael (Kim) Williamson, and one sister, Lisa (Sandy) Gibbs, all of Morehead; one niece and several nephews and great nephews, as well as countless extended family and friends, including his mother's dedicated caregiver, Jessica Oliver.
Billy was a gifted and talented person who was passionate about perfecting everything he encountered. He was especially proud of being an Eagle Scout and working thirty years in the area of communications. He graduated from Morehead State University with a B. A. in communications and has been at WLEX in Lexington since 1993. Billy was currently a respected graphic designer at LEX. In a tribute to Billy, his co-workers reported he was passionate about his work and he brightened everyone's day. He enjoyed life to the fullest with family and friends in many different environments. He loved the water, especially Cave Run Lake, and unofficially was known as the "Mayor" of Muskie Bend. His legacy will continue forever.
Visitation at Northcutt and Son Home for Funerals in Morehead (400 Fraley Drive) will be Thursday, May 16, 2024, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. A funeral service is scheduled Friday, May 17, 2024, at 11 a.m. at the Owingsville Ward meetinghouse of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints just south of I-64 Exit 121 in Owingsville with Bishop Johnathan K. Nelson officiating. Kolby Kappes will deliver the eulogy.
Interment will follow in New Alfrey Cemetery in Morehead. Pallbearers will be Lee Adkins, Glenn Vaughan, Darin Vaughan, Steven Vaughan, Harland Hatter, Michael Williamson, Kolby Kappes, Chris Jones, Michael Kerber.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests gifts to a memorial fund being established in Billy's name at The Citizens Bank in Morehead
