Obituary

Billy Wayne 'Bill' Proffitt, age 66, of Nichols Branch, Clearfield, passed away Saturday, January 16, 2016, at his residence. He was born August 25, 1949, in Bluefield, West Virginia, a son of the late Edward and Opal Honaker Hart Proffitt. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Lonnie Proffitt; one sister, Mona Fae Proffitt; and one sister-in-law, Helen Hart. Bill is survived by his wife, Bernice Caudill Brown Proffitt; her children, that he thought of as his own, Wayne Brown and wife Tanya and Judy Noble and husband Duane, all of Morehead, and Diane Stevens and husband Bobby of Clearfield; and 13 step grandchildren, Lincoln, Nathan, Allie, and Kendall Brown, David, Tashina, Adam, Harli, and Myli Davis, Alexis Noble, Brandon Cartwright, Justin Brown, and Lee Howard. Also surviving are two brothers, Westley Hart of Princeton, West Virginia, and Edward Proffitt and wife Vicky of China Grove, North Carolina; four sisters, Freda Tillett of Mineral, Virginia, Mary Graves of Louisa, Virginia, Margaret Simpson of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, and Dora Estes and husband Dale of Troy, Virginia; a special niece, Emily Martin of Jeffersonville; several nieces and nephews; and extended family and many friends. Bill was a U. S. Marine veteran of Vietnam and retired from the VA Medical Center on Leestown Road, Lexington. He was an Evangelist and hosted The Voice program on TV10. He was a member of the New Hope Community Church in Olive Hill and Rolling Thunder Chapter 1 in Owingsville. He enjoyed farming, gardening, riding his Harley, reading the Bible, and especially spending time with his family. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him. Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Tuesday, January 19, 2016, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with Brother Rudy Reed officiating. Burial will follow in Brown Cemetery on Stamper Ridge with full military honors by Morehead American Legion Post No. 126. Pallbearers: Wayne Brown, Lincoln Brown, Nathan Brown, Justin Brown, David Davis, Duane Noble, Dale Estes, and Dale Estes, Jr. Visitation is after 5 p.m. Monday, January 18, 2016, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals in Morehead.
