Brother Billie Scott Wagoner, age 80, of Hillsboro, a minister for nearly 40 years, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, September 10, 2017, at the Fleming County Hospital in Flemingsburg. Born August 20, 1937, in Elliott County, he was a son of the late Luther Ray and Alice Buckner Wagoner. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Scottie Wagoner on May 31, 1978; two sisters, Ethel Prewitt and Patty Wagoner; and one brother, Addie Wagoner. Brother Billie is survived by his wife of 57 years, Betty Ruth Barker Wagoner, whom he married June 18, 1960; two daughters, Pauletta (James) Engle and Pamela Ruth (Greg) Compton, all of Hillsboro; five grandchildren; six great grandchildren; and one great-great grandson. Other survivors include three brothers, Robert Wagoner and Henry Wayne Wagoner, both of Morehead, and Kenneth Wagoner of Ohio; one sister, Pauline Skaggs of Hillsboro; several nieces and nephews; his church family and many dear friends. He served in the U.S. Army, was a retired carpenter, and a minister since 1978. He enjoyed teaching his children and grandchildren about the word of God and the family farm. He also enjoyed attending his grandchildren's ballgames, hunting, and fishing. Funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m. Wednesday, September 13, 2017, at the Hutton Funeral Home in Hillsboro with Brother Roger Skaggs and Brother Randy Hawkins officiating. Burial will follow in Elliott County Memory Gardens with full military honors by VFW Post 11428 in Sandy Hook. Pallbearers will be Travis Engle, Scott Compton, Blake Compton, Gene Hickerson, Joey Osborne, and Zachary Alexander. Honorary pallbearers will be Josh Taulbee and Seth Hickerson.
