Bill Mullen, 85, of Morehead, passed away Friday, December 19, 2014, at the V.A. Medical Center in Lexington. Born December 31, 1928, in Clarksville, Ohio, he was a son of the late Roy and Pearl Leis Mullen. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two sons, Mike and Scott Mullen, and seven brothers and sisters. Bill is survived by his wife, Kathy Manning Mullen; two sons, Bo Mullen and wife Susan of Winchester, and Tommy Mullen of Irvine; one daughter, Debi Star Johnson of Winchester; one stepdaughter, Donna Wallace and husband James of Clearfield; one sister, Linda Lou Carter of Pass Christian, Mississippi; six grandchildren; one step granddaughter; 6 great grandchildren; and one step great grandson. Bill was a graduate of Wilmington (Ohio) High School, a U.S. Army veteran and former police officer in Wilmington, Ohio. He was also a former administrator with the Daniel Boone Convalescent Center in Morehead (now Life Care Center), owner of the first local ambulance service (apart from funeral homes) in Morehead; and regional director of 14 nursing and rehabilitation centers in western Kentucky. He was active in civic organizations, Masonic Lodge No. 654, and American Legion Post No. 126. He loved to fish. Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Sunday, December 21, 2014, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with Rev. Allan Hutchinson and Rev. Mark Caldwell officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens with full military honors presented by Morehead American Legion Post No. 126. Pallbearers: E. R. Johnson, Tommy Mullen, Jerry Strunk, Kyle Roberts, Cole Caldwell, and Billy Mullen. Honorary Pallbearers: Morehead American Legion Post 126 and grandchildren: Michael Mullen, David Mullen Jr., Stacey Mullen, David Mullen III, Amie Adkins, Hannah Johnson, and Parker Mullen.. Visitation is Saturday, December 20, 2014, from 5 p.m. - 8 p.m. with masonic rites to be conducted at 7:30 p.m. Saturday by Morehead Masonic Lodge No. 654. Arrangements are under the direction of Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals in Morehead. Visitation: Saturday, December 20, 2014, 5 - 8 p.m. Funeral: Sunday, December 21, 2014, 2 p.m. Interment: Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens
