Obituary

Betty Toler Staton Watts, age 85, of Winchester, Kentucky, passed away Tuesday, May 14, 2024, at Clark Regional Medical Center in Winchester, following a sudden illness.

Born November 27, 1938, in Logan, West Virginia, she was the last surviving child of the late D. B. and Rebecca Wright Toler.  In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her first husband, Clayton Dale "Cowboy" Staton, on December 31, 1993, and her son, Edwin Dale Staton on March 26, 2003.

Betty is survived by her husband of 16 years, Herman Watts; her son, Dennis Staton and wife Pamela of Winchester; one stepson, Jeff Watts (Angie) of Lexington; two step granddaughters, Tara Kirk and Michelle Hollon; three step great grandchildren, Blake and Kaitlyn Shoemaker and Jacob Sandefur; two special friends, Roberta Risner Staton of Mt. Sterling and Sharon Staton Sparks of Campton, as well as countless extended family and friends.

Betty was a wonderful wife and mother who derived great joy from taking care of the family. She was a patient, caring, and thoughtful caregiver who not only helped family members but also friends and neighbors. A meticulous person, Betty enjoyed landscaping and working in her flowers, cooking and making favorite dishes for everyone; shopping, and collecting and sharing unusual gifts.  Her work ethic was exceptional. Though the years, she was a farmer, auto dealer, cashier, former co-owner of Staton Farms and C & S Western Wear in Owingsville and was currently working as a bookkeeper at Staton Auto Sales in Winchester.  Betty's love of family was surpassed only by her Christian faith.  A God-loving person, she studied her Bible daily and lived her life by example.   She was a longtime member of the Owingsville First Church of God that was a major part of her earthly journey.

Private services for Betty's immediate family only will be held on Saturday, May 18, 2024, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Lowell Rice officiating.  Burial will follow at Polksville Cemetery in Salt Lick, Kentucky.
