Obituary

Betty Cassity Price, age 79, of New Hampshire Drive, Ashland, passed away Tuesday, June 9, 2015, at the Community Hospice in Ashland. Born September 24, 1935, in Shademore near Hamilton, Ohio, she was a daughter of the late William and Milda Napier Coldiron. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by six sisters, four brothers, and a son, Vernon L. Cassity. Betty was also preceded in death by her first husband James B. (Shorty) Cassity, in 1991, and her second husband, Paul Price, in 2001. She is survived by three sons, James 'Jim' (Louise) Cassity of Frisco, Texas, Walter (Rebecca) Cassity of Morehead and Larry Cassity of Ashland; six grandchildren, Jason (Bethany) Cassity, Lisa (Jasper) Arnold, and Michelle, Eric, Chris and Brayden Cassity; two great-grandchildren, Cora and William Cassity; and many nieces and nephews. Betty held many jobs over the decades in support of her family. Most memorable for her were as a waitress at the Eagles Nest Restaurant in Morehead, seamstress at Cowden Manufacturing in Morehead and service administrator at General Telephone Company in Morehead and Ashland. She formed deep lifelong friendships with many associates in these companies, a testament to her compassion and desire to please and serve others. Pleasing and serving others was her main motivation in life. Her love for Christ was always evident. She was a devoted and loving mother teaching her sons about Jesus at an early age and encouraging them in good times and bad. She did various volunteer works most notably for Meals on Wheels and the Shawnee Church of God in Flatwoods where she served in various roles, always willing to take a meal or visit someone in need. Betty was a gentle soul who blessed everyone with her positive attitude and happy demeanor wherever she went. She always saw the best in other people, while forgiving or encouraging them to do better in their faults. Her infectious laughter delighted family and friends and will long be remembered and deeply missed. Betty will be honored and remembered by friends and family at a memorial service Saturday, June 13, 2015, at 11 a.m. at the Shawnee Church of God, 1303 Beth Ann Dr., Flatwoods, KY 41139 with Brother Jim Stamper officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to Meals on Wheels, 807 Seaton Avenue, Greenup, KY 41144 or Community Hospice, 480 Carter Avenue, Ashland, KY 41101.
