Betty Jo Layne Salyers Davis, age 82, of Morehead, passed away Tuesday, January 31, 2017, at her residence. Born October 24, 1934, in Olive Hill, she was a daughter of the late Estel and Sadie Hurley Layne. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Salyers, Jr., in 1952; one daughter, Victoria Davis; two sons, Mitchell Layne Parish and Thomas Logan; one brother, Billy Layne; and two sisters, Georgie Fraley and Bonnie Youde. Mrs. Davis is survived by five daughters, Judith (Tommy) Cooper, Rosie Bates, Mary (Wendell) Stacy, and Jamie Wallace, all of Morehead, and Kimberly Wallace of Clearfield; 19 grandchildren; 36 great grandchildren; and 14 great-great grandchildren. Other survivors include four brothers, Kenneth Layne of Dayton, Ohio, and Frank Layne, Tony Layne, and Richard Layne, all of Olive Hill; four sisters, Virginia Carpenter of Morehead, and Lorene Carpenter, Barbara Bair, and Kathy Charles, all of Olive Hill; former husband, Marcus Logan Davis of Morehead; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and other family members. Mrs. Davis was a homemaker and enjoyed staying home and caring for her grandchildren. Mamaw had a lot of love in her and she loved pouring her love on the grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Friday, February 3, 2017, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with Brother Bobby Day officiating. Burial will follow in Manning Chapel Cemetery. Pallbearers: Robert Davis, Jason Davis, Donald Wayne Holbrook, Wendell Holbrook, Zach Stacy, and Jessie Stacy. Visitation will be from 12 noon to 2 p.m. Friday, February 3, 2017, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals in Morehead.
