Betty Lee Johnson Wages, age 85, of Wallingford, formerly of Morehead, passed away Friday, February 23, 2018, at Pioneer Trace Nursing Home in Flemingsburg. She was born September 30, 1932, in Whitman, West Virginia, a daughter of the late James Thomas and Samantha Jane Holbrook Johnson. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, James Thomas Johnson, Jr., John Richard Johnson, Bernard "Bruce" Johnson; four sisters, Lois Watson, Treda Day, Hildred Johnson, and Samantha Jane Collins. Betty's husband, Zane Grey Wages, passed away on November 18, 1999. She is survived by two sons, James Robert "Bobby" Gore of Wallingford and Bruce Wages and wife Shana of Morehead; three daughters, Denise Gore of Wallingford, Pamela Wages of Morehead, and Monique Lett of Atlanta, Georgia; 14 grandchildren, Ronnie Goldy, Jr., Robert Goldy, Jessica Goldy Elliott, Brandon Goldy, Sierra Goldy Marin, Greg Gore, Jodie Gore Ifhe, Johnny Gore, Tyler Wages, Allie Wages, Shaylea Puckett, Matt Jude, Simone Lett and Quentin Lett; 15 great grandchildren; one sister, Patty Johnson Cox of Morehead; nieces and nephews; extended family and friends. Betty retired in 1994 from the Rowan County Emergency Medical Services as an EMT. She enjoyed crossword puzzles, crocheting, and working in her flowers. Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Tuesday, February 27, 2018, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with Pastor Cecil Ison officiating. Burial will follow in the Clay Cemetery, KY 955, in Carter County. Pallbearers: Alex Messer, Jack McDaniel, John Elliott, Cliff Sparkman, Eugene Trent, Adam Carter, Richie Johnson, and Paul Cox.
