Betty Lucille Hamilton Gambill, age 82, of Lyons Avenue, Morehead, passed away Friday, March 25, 2022, at St. Claire HealthCare in Morehead.

Born November 29, 1939, in Pardee, Virginia, she was the daughter of the late James R. Hamilton and Martha Elizabeth Snow Hamilton.  Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by seven siblings, Earl, Jimmy, Edna, Geneva, Barbara, Liz, and Nancy, and a step-granddaughter, Holly Russell.

Betty's devoted husband of 41 years, Bobby Gambill, who lovingly called Betty "his Brown Eyes," passed away December 19, 1999.

She is survived by five children, Pamela Sue Bang (Charlie) of Acton, CA, Kimberly Ann Russell (Robert) of Morehead, Mark Alan Gambill of Clearfield, Karen Lyn Cline of Rineyville, and Connie Lea Smedley of Morehead; nine grandchildren, Charlie, Tony, Shanna, Bobby, Tiffany, Joshua, Kaitlyn, Keri, and Krista; 15 great grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild expected to arrive in July.

Other survivors include one brother, Dale Hamilton of Oak Ridge, TN; one sister, Eva Baker of Bristol, VA, as well as nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Betty retired from Morehead State University as the purchasing agent for the Physical Plant after 30 years of service. She was an active member of the Rowan County Democratic Women's Club, the Order of the Eastern Star, and the Morehead Jayceettes.  In addition, she supported Bobby in his leadership roles in the community.  Family meant everything to Betty and she was always an integral part of their lives. She looked forward to cooking special meals, canning, and making Christmas candy.  Always a sports person, Betty enjoyed bowling, playing softball (and watching Mark play Little League), roller skating in her younger years, and watching UK basketball and football.  She was of the Baptist faith and will be lovingly remembered by her family and friends.
