Betty Sue Bowling Adkins, age 78, of Dayton, Ohio, passed away Friday, February 27, 2015, at the Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton. She was born January 4, 1937, in Rowan County, a daughter of the late Noah and Lillian Fultz Bowling. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by one son, Ray Adkins; one daughter, Brenda Spencer; two brothers, Jackie and Danny Bowling; and one sister, Dorthy Marie 'Dottie' Williams. Vinson Adkins, Betty's husband for more than 30 years and father of her children, passed away April 24, 1994. Betty Sue is survived by one son and two daughters, Rickey Adkins and wife Theresa, Helen Sue Matheny and husband Guy, and Patty Bush, all of Dayton, Ohio; 9 grandchildren; and 8 great grandchildren. She is also survived by seven brothers, Billy Bowling of Olive Hill, Jimmy Bowling, Curtis Bowling, Jerry Bowling, Kenny Bowling, Ray Bowling, and Johnny Bowling, all of Morehead; three sisters, Joyce Ballew of Burnsville, North Carolina, Mary Murphy of Belleville, Michigan, and Kay Keeton of Adrian, Michigan; numerous nieces and nephews; other relatives; and friends. Betty was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother who will live on in the hearts of her family. She will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by all. Funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m. Wednesday, March 4, 2015, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with Pastor Andy Lands officiating. Burial will follow in Brown Cemetery.
