Bessie Faye Owens Shumate, age 85, of Fraley Drive, Morehead, Kentucky, passed away Sunday, September 7, 2008, at the Life Care Center of Morehead. She was born May 10, 1922, in Rowan County, Kentucky, daughter of the late Sim and Vica Littleton Owens. In addition to her parents, her husband, William Shumate, preceded her in death. She is survived by two daughters, Kathleen McCready and Janice DePue, and one brother, Vic Owens, all of Mansfield, Ohio. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews including Margie Burgy, Vivian Caudill, and Sherry Adkins, all of Morehead, Kentucky. A graveside service will be conducted 2 p.m. Thursday, September 11, 2008, at the Ontario Cemetery in Ontario, Ohio, with the Rev. Glen Phillips officiating.
