Bessie Jean Evans Middleton, age 82, of Open Fork Road, Morehead, passed away Friday, August 7, 2015, at the St. Claire Regional Medical Center in Morehead. She was born April 19, 1933, in Rowan County, a daughter of the late Ralph and Mabel Turner Evans. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Jack, Ora, and Frank Evans, and three sisters, Sue Messer, Wilma Gearhart, and Jessie Rivers. Her husband, Max Austin Middleton, passed away August 28, 1999. Mrs. Middleton is survived by one son, Jeffrey Middleton of Pittsburg, Texas; two sisters, Ruth Horton of Morehead and Edna Middleton of Yorktown, Indiana; one grandson, Geoffrey Middleton of Pikeville; several nieces and nephews; and a special great niece Jacinda and great nephew Gavin. Mrs. Middleton was a homemaker and enjoyed listening to Bluegrass music. She was of the Church of God faith. Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Sunday, August 9, 2015, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with Bro. Don Rivers officiating. Burial will follow in the New Sill Cemetery.
