Obituary

Bernard Joe Horton, age 58, of Haldeman Road, Morehead, passed away Thursday, October 30, 2014, at his residence. He was born November 19, 1955, in Fort Knox, a son of the late Clarence E. Horton, Jr., and Wanda June Cogswell Horton Carpenter and husband William Harold Carpenter of Morehead. Besides his mother and stepfather, he is survived by one son, Aaron Horton of Lake Havasu City, AZ; two daughters, Rebekah Boarman and husband David of Grayson and Katlyn Horton of Morehead; a five-year-old granddaughter, Alexis Marie Finch; one brother, Anthony Horton of Hillsboro; two sisters, Janet Hogge and husband Don and Cindy Kerns and husband Tim, all of Morehead; and two stepsisters, Shirley Thibault of Nashville, Tennessee, and Susan Ebersohl and husband Skyler of Pontiac, Michigan. Bernard was a U.S. Army veteran, former miner and construction worker. He enjoyed hunting, flint knapping, collecting primitive artifacts, and observing nature. An avid reader, he was particularly interested in historical writings. Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Monday, November 3, 2014, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Myron Hall officiating. Burial will follow in New Alfrey Cemetery with full military honors by Morehead American Legion Post 126. Pallbearers: Matt Hollingsworth, Tim Kerns, Donnie Hogge, Rodney Fugett, Jeff Cogswell, Jamie Hogge. Honorary Pallbearers: Tony Horton, Tom Dowler, David Boarman Visitation is after 5 p.m. Sunday, November 2, 2014, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals in Morehead. Visitation: Sunday, November 2, 2014, after 5 p.m. Funeral: Monday, November 3, 2014, at 11 a.m. Interment: ew Alfrey Cemetery
