Obituary

Barbara Jean Thompson, 69, a lifelong resident of Mt. Sterling, KY, passed away on Wednesday, January 6, 2021, at Baptist Health in Lexington.

Barbara was born July 17, 1951, to the late Clifton and Elizabeth Stull Thompson. She was a 1969 graduate of Montgomery County High School. She retired as a supervisor from AO Smith after 40 years.

Barbara was a member of Gateway Christian Church. She had a great love of the outdoors where she enjoyed fishing, showing Tennessee Walking horses, and playing softball. Barbara also enjoyed watching basketball and spent many years following her nieces and nephews to their sporting events. Barbara will be remembered for loving and caring for her family and supporting her nieces and nephews through life endeavors.

She is survived by Stanley Willoughby, her three brothers, Larry (Priscilla) Thompson, Gary (Susan) Thompson, and Joe (Dawn) Thompson, and one sister, Mary Alice (Mark) Collier, all of Mt. Sterling, KY. She is also survived by a host of nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews that she loved dearly.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by a nephew, Robbie Thompson.

A private graveside service will be held on Monday, January, 11, 2021 at 11:00 A.M. at Machpelah Cemetery with Bill Kilgore presiding.

Pallbearers include William Reffitt, Ronnie Keath, Millard Anderson, Rodney McKinney, Travis Royse, Wendell Willoughby, Gary Puckett, Randy Thomas, Jimmy Willoughby, Howard Gingrich, Mike Willoughby and Stanley Clayton Willoughby.
