Barbara Anne Reed Ramey, age 78, of Independence, formerly of Morehead, passed away Saturday, January 26, 2019, at Bluegrass Care Navigators in Independence. She was born September 29, 1940, in North Matewan, West Virginia, and was a daughter of the late John B. and Dorothy Mounts Reed. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John D. Ramey, Sr. in 1979; two brothers, William Reed and Daniel Reed; and one sister, Ina Stallard. Barbara is survived by one son, John Ramey, Jr. of Independence; one brother, John (Jeanne) Reed of Morehead; two sisters, Ella Thurston of Louisville and Edith (Louis) Roe of Lexington; and one granddaughter, Heather Ramey. She was a homemaker and was of the Pentecostal faith. Barbara loved to decorate her home and watch television, especially sports. Funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m. Tuesday, January 29, 2019, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with Pastor Michael Anderson officiating. Burial will follow in Brown Cemetery. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
