Barbara Sue Purnell Owens, age 71, of CCC Trail, Morehead, passed away Thursday, August 25, 2016, at her residence. Born August 31, 1944, in Rowan County, she was a daughter of the late Bert and Cora Lee Fraley Purnell. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by four brothers, Emil Purnell, James Arthur Purnell, Junior Purnell, and Elmo Stigall. Her husband of 44 years, Jerry Lee Owens, whom she married November 26, 1966, passed away February 23, 2011. Barbara is survived by one son, Jack Lee Owens and Diana of Huntington, West Virginia; one daughter, Babetta Dailey and Wayne of Olive Hill; two grandchildren, Carson Matthew and Jason Wayne Dailey. She also leaves behind one sister, Lois Purnell Smoak of Charlotte, North Carolina; one brother, Emery Allen Purnell of Morehead; nieces and nephews; extended family; and friends. Barbara was a graduate of the Kentucky School for the Deaf in Danville, Kentucky, and a former employee of Days Inn, RCCA, Ashland Sales, and Lakeside Christian Academy. Funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m. Monday, August 29, 2016, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with Brother Kenny Fouch officiating. Burial will follow in Ditney Cemetery. Pallbearers: Elmo Stigall, Jr., Homer Barker, Randy Bradley, Chris Stigall, Matthew Crouch, Jonathan Stigall, Jason Dailey and Matthew Dailey. Visitation is 5 p.m. Sunday, August 28, 2016, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals in Morehead.
