Barbara Lorene Fultz Cox, age 79, a beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, May 27, 2020.

She was born on December 1, 1940, in Morehead to the late Kennis Earl and Ida Mae Christian Fultz. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her infant son, Gregory Allen Cox, and her granddaughter, Erin Nicole Whittaker.

Barbara is survived by her loving husband of 63 years, Arthur Cox, whom she wed on May 25, 1957; three daughters, Sheila Wooley and husband Jim of Mount Sterling; Teresa Stacy and husband Rocky of Morehead, and Melissa Brooks and husband Greg of Hillsboro; five grandchildren, Matthew Whittaker, Kristen Watson and husband Patrick, Jonathan Stacy and wife Ally, Jayla Lillard and Braeden Lillard. Barbara was excited for the arrival of her first great grandchild, expected in September.

Additional survivors include three sisters, Virginia Svencner and husband Frank of Crown Pointe, Indiana, Loretta Smedley and husband Harold of Clearfield, and Brenda Bowman and husband Carlos of Clearfield; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Barbara held various jobs over the years, but she most enjoyed homemaking. She loved cooking, cleaning, baking, reading, and collecting porcelain dolls and angels. She especially enjoyed spending time with her family and beloved dogs, Peppy and Molly. Barbara's home has always been the gathering place for family dinners and get-togethers. She had the gift of hospitality and lovingly welcomed everyone into her home.

Barbara was a woman of strong faith. She raised her children in a loving home where she taught them the love of Jesus Christ. She was a Christian for over 50 years and a long-time member of Bairtown Church of God. She loved attending church and cherished her church family.

She cherished time spent with her family who loved her dearly and will be greatly missed by family and friends.

Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Sunday, May 31, 2020, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with Brother Elijah Wagoner, Brother Justin Wagoner, and Brother Johnny Moore officiating. Burial will follow in New Sill Cemetery.

Pallbearers:  Matthew Whittaker, Jonathan Stacy, Braeden Lillard, Patrick Watson, Greg Bowman, and Brian Bowman.

Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.  Saturday, May 30, 2020, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals, 400 Fraley Drive, Morehead, KY 40351.
