Barbara Faye Amburgey, age 70, of McBrayer Road, Clearfield, Kentucky, passed away Tuesday, January 24, 2017, at St. Claire Regional Medical Center in Morehead, Kentucky. Born June 2, 1946, in Hazard, Kentucky, she was the oldest daughter of the late Homer and Grace Cornett Amburgey. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her only nephew, Joe David Crawford, who was the world to her. She is survived by her sister, Betty Crawford (BoBo) of Lakeport, Florida; Kelly Dixon Crawford, widow of Joe Crawford; two great-nieces, Kara and Kasey Crawford; and 1 great-nephew, Kameron Crawford, whom she loved dearly. Barbara was a retired teacher/librarian in Rowan and Bath County schools. She was a member of the following organizations: Bath County Retired Teachers Association, KEA Retired, NEA, Rowan County Democratic Committee, AMVETS, VFW, and American Legion Auxiliaries in Tavares, FL., which was her winter home. She was also a Kentucky Colonel. Graveside services will be conducted 4 p.m. Saturday, January 28, 2017, at Brown Cemetery with Pastor Tim Rhodes officiating. There is no visitation.
