B. W. Harris, age 76, of Biggs Branch Road, Olive Hill, Kentucky, passed away Monday, December 24, 2012, at the Central Baptist Hospital in Lexington, Kentucky. Born March 17, 1936, in Pike County, Kentucky, he was the son of the late Ruey and Eva Parker Harris. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by five brothers, Bennie Slone, Rennie Slone, Bert Harris, Teddy Harris, and Arthur Harris. Mr. Harris is survived by two daughters, Crystal Fouch and husband Rodney of Clearfield, Kentucky, and Eva Harris Smith of Morehead, Kentucky; one son, B. W. Harris, II of West Virginia; and five grandchildren, Destiny Harris, Alyssa Smith, Tristan Harris, Harrison Fouch, and Alexandra Fouch. Also surviving are three sisters, Celia Varney of Richmond, Kentucky, Hattie Hibbs of Olive Hill, Kentucky, and Dorothy Cope of Franklin, Tennessee; one sister-in-law, Maggie Harris of Zebulon, Kentucky; numerous nieces and nephews; and other family members. Mr. Harris was veteran of the U. S. Army and a coal miner for 34 years. During his last years of mining, B. W. was the owner and operator of D & E Coal Company in Kimper, Kentucky. He was an avid outdoors man and enjoyed hunting, fishing, and farming. Funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m. Friday, December 28, 2012, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with Brother Marcus McCleese officiating. Burial will follow in Brown Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Clint Varney, Rodney Fouch, Mike Harris, Doug Bevins, Bill Bevins, Steve Bevins, Harrison Fouch, and Randy Moore. Visitation is after 5 p.m. Thursday, December 27, 2012, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Central Baptist Hospital Foundation, 1740 Nicholasville Road, Lexington, KY 40503.
