Obituary

Audrey Pearl Rayburn Taylor, 88, of North Tolliver Road, Morehead, Kentucky, passed away Tuesday, October 2, 2012, at her home. Born September 12, 1924, in Lewis County, Kentucky, she was a daughter of the late Roscoe and Daisy Lee Fannin Rayburn. Besides her parents, she was also preceded in death by one brother, Lloyd Rayburn, and one sister, Edieth Adkins. Audrey's husband of 53 years, H. K. Taylor, whom she wed December 2, 1949, passed away March 3, 2003. She is survived by two sons, Herschel Kenneth Taylor, Jr. and wife Jeri and Steven Douglas Taylor and wife Susie, all of Morehead, Kentucky; six grandchildren, Christopher Colton Cooper and wife Sarah, Carie Dawn Taylor Faulkner and husband Josh, Steven Douglas Taylor, Jr. and wife Tonya, Conrad Jared Elliott Taylor, Aizhan Marie Taylor, and Hannah Meile Taylor; five great grandchildren, Caroline, Bri, Paige, Bella, and Emma Kate. Other survivors include four sisters, Virginia Williams of Ashland, Kentucky, Ardieth Winger of Little Rock, Arkansas, Jo Ann Kemper of Orlando, Florida, and Mary Jean McGuire of Fairfield, Ohio; sister-in-law, Lillian Rayburn of Ashland, Kentucky; extended family members; and devoted caregivers, Faye Stover, Linda McKinney, and Kathy Charles. Audrey was a graduate of Boyd County High School, received her bachelor's and master's degrees from Morehead State University, and completed post graduate work at Virginia Tech. Mrs. Taylor taught nearly twenty years at the Morehead Treatment Center and University Breckinridge School and for many years she and H. K. owned the Rowan Motor Sales. Audrey enjoyed her membership in various organizations, including the Morehead Red Hatters and Painted Hills Garden Club. Affectionately known as the 'Rose Lady,' Audrey delighted in cultivating various types of roses and delivering beautiful bouquets to various businesses and shut-ins. A lifelong member of the Morehead First Church of God, she had been a choir member and an active WCG member. Funeral services will be conducted 3 p.m. Saturday, October 6, 2012, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with Pastor Allan Hutchinson officiating. Burial will follow in Lee Cemetery. Pallbearers: Christopher Colton Cooper, Steven Douglas Taylor, Jr., Conrad Jared Elliott Taylor, Mark Taylor, Josh Faulkner, and Gayle Bow. Visitation is Saturday, October 6, 2012, from 1 p.m. until 3 p.m. at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals, Morehead, Kentucky. Visitation: Saturday, October 6, 2012, from 1-3 p.m. Funeral: Saturday, October 6, 2012, at 3 p.m. Interment: Lee Cemetery
