Ashley Dawn
Thompson
Aug 14, 1982 — May 14, 2025
Ashley Dawn Thompson, age 42, of Olive Hill, born August 14, 1982, in Morehead, gained her wings, surrounded by her loved ones, on May 14, 2025. Although she lost her battle to cancer, make no mistake, she was a warrior and fought each and every day until her last breath. Ashley fought a courageous battle for three years with dignity and grace, never losing faith that her Lord and Savior had a plan for her life. For all who witnessed this battle exclaimed she was the strongest and bravest of all warriors, never being dismayed by her illness.
Ashley was preceded in death by her father, Richard Thompson; one sister, Kiela Shae Bradley; and paternal grandmother, Dianah Zornes.
Ashley's love knew no bounds. Ashley was an amazing mother, daughter, sister, companion, niece, nurse, and friend. She devoted her life to caring for others. She was a nurse at Ridgeway Nursing and Rehab in Owingsville and Life Care Nursing Home & Rehab in Morehead. There she was able to give the gift of compassion for those who needed it most, alongside her wonderful coworkers Mindy, Kelly, Kim, Sherri, and Melissa.
Ashley was an avid cook and party planner. She enjoyed cooking with Jon (the love of her life) and planning large meals for their extended families and friends. She enjoyed family gatherings and treasured each moment spent with her loved ones. Ashley lived for family vacations to her happy place, Outer Banks, North Carolina, where the most cherished memories were made, never to be forgotten. Ash's favorite time of the year was Christmas; gift giving and sharing her talent for cooking brought her much joy. "It is more blessed to give than to receive" Acts. 20:35
Ashley treasured her special bond with her two children, Kaylee Grace, 11, and Kasey Lee, 21. Her love for them was unmatched; as she loved them fiercely and with every fiber in her being. Ashley was the best big sis that anyone could ever ask. Her patience, generosity, wisdom, strength, and unconditional love will be imprinted on their hearts forever and always. A piece of her will remain inside their hearts forever.
Ashley and her momma, Marsha, had an unbreakable bond. They were best friends. They loved thrifting, party planning, bargain hunting, you name it, they were one and the same. Ashley was blessed to get to have her mother and stepfather be her caregivers for the last two years. Memories made will forever hold a special place in her Mom and Terrell's heart and in Ashley's precious soul.
Ashley leaves behind the love of her life, Jonathan Jones, who began their journey together October 6, 2002; two children, Kaylee Jones and Kasey Jones (Amanda Conn), all of Olive Hill; her parents, Marsha Logan Bradley and Terrell Bradley; two sisters, Cassandra Bradley and Kayla Bradley (Cody Barnett), all of Morehead; two nephews, Benjamin Meza and Easton Barnett; one niece, Madelyn Barnett; maternal grandmother, Ruth Logan of Morehead; Jonathan's mother, Shirley Jones of Olive Hill; several aunts and uncles, cousins, and special friends.
Ashley Dawn had the most generous soul. Her smile and charisma would light up any room; our sunshine. She will be greatly missed by all who had the pleasure of being in her presence.
Her spirit, a fire, burned ever so bold,
A story of strength, forever to be told.
She faced every storm, her heart never swayed,
A woman of courage, her spirit displayed.
Through trials and triumphs, her path she did tread,
A tapestry woven, beautifully spread.
Her wisdom and grace, a light to behold,
A memory cherished, a story unfolds.
Though tears may fall, and grief may run deep,
Her spirit remains, promises to keep.
We'll honor her life, the love that she gave,
And find solace in memories, forever to save.
