Obituary

Arlie Sherman May, age 74, of U.S. 60 East, Morehead, Kentucky, passed away Monday, May 21, 2012, at the V.A. Medical Center in Lexington, Kentucky. Born December 3, 1937, in Rowan County, Kentucky, he was the son of the late Henry and Jessie Johnson May. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by six brothers, Hershel May, James May, Murl May, George May, Fred Puckett, and Jerry May, and one son, James Allen May, who passed away August 12, 2001. Arlie is survived by his wife, Glenda J. Herron May, whom he married on October 29, 1962; one son, Gardner May and his wife Katie of Morehead, Kentucky; a daughter-in-law, Helen May Puckett of Carter County, Kentucky; five brothers, Sam May, Vernon May, Lansford May, and John May, all of Morehead, Kentucky, and Tony Puckett of Union City, Indiana; three sisters, Janice Parker, Eulalia Blevins, and Alice Raikes, all of Morehead, Kentucky; 7 grandchildren; and 17 great grandchildren. Arlie was a farmer, carpenter, and mechanic. He was a U. S. Army veteran, having served during the Berlin Crisis. Arlie was a member of Morehead American Legion Post No. 126 and a Kentucky Colonel. He enjoyed working on antique cars and reading and was a loving husband, dad, and papaw, who enjoyed spending time with his family. Funeral services will be conducted 3:00 p.m. Thursday, May 24, 2012, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with Elder Landon Bradley officiating. Burial will follow in the May Family Cemetery with full military honors by Morehead American Legion Post No. 126. Pallbearers: John May, John May II, Dewayne May, Darrell Puckett, Bobby Hall, Terry Adams, Jr., and James May II. Visitation is after 6 p.m. Wednesday, May 23, 2012, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals in Morehead. Visitation: Wednesday, May 23, 2012, after 6 p.m. Funeral: Thursday, May 24, 2012, af 3 p.m. Interment: May Family Cemetery
