Obituary

Anthony Howard McVey, age 69, of Clearfield, peacefully entered eternal rest at UK–St. Claire HealthCare in Morehead on Friday, January 23, 2026, with his loving wife and family by his side.

Born June 19, 1956, in Morgan County, he was the son of the late Johnnie and Edith McVey. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved Jack Russell Terriers, Kidd and Sissy.

Howard is survived by his devoted wife, Diana McVey; his daughter and son-in-law, Randi and Kevin Harper; and his special grandson, Ayden Harper, all of Grayson. He is also survived by one brother, Randy (Carol) McVey of Cynthiana; two sisters, Ann (Carl) Carter of Bellville, Texas, and Robin (Ricky) Trent of Morehead; two sisters-in-law, Cathy (Brent) Wilburn and Christy (Mike) Burchett, both of Olive Hill; an uncle, Gene (Gwenda) Johnson; along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends. He also leaves behind two special furry companions, Sam and Squirt.

Howard spent many years working on the road as a lineman for Driftwood, Inc., and later retired from Allied Waste Management, where he worked as a CDL roll-off driver. He was a son of the American Legion, an El Hasa Shriner and a member of the Morehead Shrine Club, as well as a member of Phelps Masonic Lodge #482.

An avid outdoorsman, Howard enjoyed riding his Harley, cooking, attending deer camp, and spending time with family and friends. His legacy of hard work, loyalty, and love will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday, February 1, 2026, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel, with Pastor Jeff Fannin and Pastor Mark Caldwell officiating. Interment will follow in Elliott County Memory Gardens in Sandy Hook.

Pallbearers will be Chris Caldwell, Darrell Thompson, Stephen Trent, Wendell Jones, J. D. Dillon, Fred Cooper, Phillip Cooper, and Don Fannin.

Honorary pallbearers include Randy McVey, John Howard McVey, Allison McVey, Carl Carter, Kevin Harper, Ayden Harper, Brent Wilburn, Mike Burchett, Danny Lewis, Brian Hood, DeWayne Carter, Steve Hodges, Charlie Henderson, and Jimmy Riddle.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday, February 1, 2026, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals, 400 Fraley Drive, Morehead, KY 40351.
