Anna Katherine Cox Ison, age 83, of Brown Ridge, Morehead, passed away Thursday, September 26, 2013, at St. Claire Regional Medical Center in Morehead. She was born March 7, 1930, in Elliott County, a daughter of the late Gordan and Bertha Mae Howard Cox. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Elmer Cox, Sidney Cox, and James L. Hall; daughter-in-law Alene Matthews Ison; granddaughter Patricia Lynn Beair; and great grandson, Mason Jett Ison. Mrs. Ison's husband, Archie Walden Ison, passed away on October 15, 1987. She is survived by three sons, James A. Ison, Cecil R. Ison and wife Bet, Arnold L. Ison and wife Violet, and two daughters, Mary Ann Beair and husband Don and Lily Mae Bowling and husband Jerry, all of Morehead; nine grandchildren, Susie Wicker, Jennifer Wilson, James Bowling, Archie Bowling, Sunshine Ison, Carrie Davis, Becky Clark, Joseph Ison, and Joshua Ison; 13 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandson. Other survivors include one brother, Andrew Cox and wife Charlotte of Cleveland, Texas; two sisters, Louise Myers of Finley, Ohio, and Dixie Cox; nieces and nephews; extended family members; and her church family. Katherine was a member of the Apostolic Tabernacle of Jesus Christ in Elliottville. She loved her church, her family-especially her grandchildren-gardening, and working in flowers. She will be sadly missed by all who knew her. Funeral services will be conducted 4 p.m. Sunday, September 29, 2013, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with Pastor Arnold L. Ison and Brother Clyde Mays, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in the Ison Family Cemetery. Pallbearers: Archie Bowling, James Bowling, Joe Ison, Josh Ison, Jim Wicker, and Patrick Mays.
