Andrew Wesley Boyd, age 82, of Andrew Boyd Lane on Old House Creek (formerly known as Vale), Morehead, Kentucky, passed away Thursday, September 17, 2009, in his home surrounded by family and friends. He was born January 23, 1927, at Vale, Kentucky, son of the late Joseph (Benjamin) Franklin and Sarah Elizabeth Wilson Miller Boyd. Andrew enlisted in the United States Army and served during World War II. After returning home from overseas, he worked in various jobs before settling in his hometown of Morehead where he owned and operated Veterans Cab over 20 years. He worked as a patrolman for the City of Morehead and drove a bus for the Rowan County Board of Education for 10 years before retiring to operate Boyd-s Used Cars and Boyd-s Stables until 2007 when he finally retired. He was preceded in death by his parents, the late Joseph (Benjamin) Franklin and Sarah Elizabeth Wilson Miller Boyd; his sister, Dora Loraine Boggs; his brothers, Arby Eugene Boyd, Averie Earsel Boyd, and A.C. Russell Boyd; his daughter, Andrea Kay Peek; his son; Wesley Eugene Boyd; his step grandson, Jason Eli Hartsook; and his twin step great grandsons Tristen Lee and Caleb Lee Wallace. He was also preceded in death by former wives Revena Davis Boyd, Mary Frances Hunt, and Hazel Rhoades Boyd. Andrew is survived by his wife of 30 years, Carol B Sparks Lewis Boyd; sons Michael Shadrach (Nancy) Boyd, Richmond, Kentucky, Phillip Wayne (Tonya) Boyd, Jeffersonville, Kentucky, Timothy Andrew (Beth) Boyd, Sr., Morehead, Kentucky; daughters JoAnn Len (Kenny) White, Maysville, Kentucky, Donna Andrea Tackett, Morehead, Kentucky, Tammy Lea (significant other Willard Pinkerman) Messer, Morehead, Kentucky, and Vicki Lynn Ingle, Morehead, Kentucky. Also, his son-in-law Robert Linzie Peek, Celina, Tennessee, and daughter-in-law Carolyn Bentley Boyd, Morehead, Kentucky. He also leaves 24 grandchildren; 37 great grandchildren; and 3 great-great grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Larry William Messer, Joseph Benjamin Boyd, Phillip Wayne Boyd, Jr., James Wayne Norris, Timothy Andrew Boyd, Jr., Billy Ball, Alex Wagoner, Geoff Hamm, Ray Cooper, and Gene Barker. Honorary pallbearers will be Sarah Jane Boyd, Johnny Hamm, Roy Douglas Calton, Glenn Ingle, James Pelfrey, Christian Weigel, and Christy Lee Adams. Funeral services will be conducted 3 p.m. Sunday, September 20, 2009, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Dewayne Johnson, Rev. Ray Glover and Rev. Tom Redmon officiating. He will be laid to rest at the Boyd Family Cemetery on Andrew Boyd Lane with full military rites conducted by Morehead American Legion Post No. 126. Visitation is after 2 p.m. Saturday, September 19, 2009, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals.
