Obituary

Amaryllis Kaye Smith Charles, 77, of Morehead, passed away Wednesday, February 12, 2025, after a brief illness.

Born June 17, 1947, in Williamson, West Virginia, Amy was the daughter of the late Albert and Evelyn Wallace Smith. In addition to her parents, Amy was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Kenneth Larry Charles, her son, Kenneth "Buddy" Charles, and a grandson, Corey Maynard.

Amy is survived by two children, Melissia "Missi" Kirk (Eddie) of Salt Lick and Larry "Scooter" Charles (Melinda) of Lakeview Heights; four grandchildren, Tyler Maynard, Kenna Barker (Austin), Easton and Maddux Charles; two great grandchildren, Charlie Maynard and Zander Barker.

Amy was a retired schoolteacher who taught a variety of subjects and grades over her three decades of teaching in private and public schools.

Affectionately known as "Meme" to her grandchildren (and most of their friends), Amy enjoyed nothing more than spending time with her family, watching her grandchildren participate in sports, watching the Cincinnati Reds, traveling, shopping, and good conversation.

At her request, there will be no visitation. A celebration of life for Larry and Amy will be announced at a later date.

In lieu of flowers or contributions, the family requests donations be made to UK-St. Claire Hospice, 222 Medical Circle, Morehead, KY 40351.

Arrangements are under the direction of Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals, 400 Fraley Drive, Morehead, Ky 40351.
