Obituary

Alvin Merrell Sorrell, age 83, of Johnson Flat Road, Hillsboro, Kentucky, passed away Tuesday, January 1, 2008, at his residence. He was born May 15, 1924, in Rowan County, Kentucky, and was the son of the late Joseph and Gertie Kissick Sorrell. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Ferl Jean Caudill Sorrell, whom he married August 9, 1960; one daughter, Cindy Smith of Morehead, Kentucky; one stepson, Fred Caudill of Morehead, Kentucky; one brother, Eugene Sorrell of Russellville, Ohio; one sister, Mildred Caudill of Marietta, Georgia; and two grandchildren, Mindy Hunt and Brittany Smith. Mr. Sorrell was a farmer and member of the Free Will Baptist Church. Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Saturday, January 5, 2008, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Harley Sexton, Jr., officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens with full military rites conducted at the graveside by Morehead American Legion Post No. 126. Pallbearers will be Clyde Caudill, Franklin Caudill, Lee Pennington, Woody Black, Robert Sorrell, and Fred Caudill. Visitation is after 5 p.m. Friday, January 4, 2008, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals. Visitation: Friday, January 4, 2008, after 5 p.m. Funeral: Saturday, January 5, 2008, at 11 a.m. Interment: Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens
