Alta Faye Sergent, age 92, of Morehead, passed away Monday, June 9, 2014, at Windsor Care in Mt. Sterling. She was born October 4, 1921, in Rowan County, a daughter of the late William G. and Annie Sergent. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by six brothers and sisters, Susie Beaver, Essie Camden, Ruth Ellington, Bill Sergent, Alonzo Sergent, and Betty Blevins. She is survived by one daughter, Janet Williams and husband Damon of Gallatin, Tennessee; one granddaughter, Denise Desuacido of San Antonio, Texas; and three sisters and one brother, Hazel Frank of Illinois, Charlotte Bolen, Shirley Gamble, and Glendon Sergent, all of Ohio. Alta lived most of her adult life in California and returned to Morehead in 1990. Always hardworking, she loved her home and flowers, gardening, sewing and crocheting. She was a Christian. Graveside services will be conducted 4 p.m. Wednesday, June 11, 2014, at Lewis Cemetery, Ditney Ridge, Morgan County, with the Rev. Cecil Ison officiating. Visitation is from 1 p.m. until 3 p.m. Wednesday at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals in Morehead.
