Alta Elizabeth Adkins Franks, 83, of Morehead, Kentucky, passed away on Sunday, June 7, 2026, with her husband and children by her bedside at UK – St. Claire HealthCare in Morehead after a brief illness.
Born September 26, 1942, in Rowan, Kentucky, to the late Charlie and Lillie Trent Adkins. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by four brothers, Charles "Ed" Adkins, Kenny Adkins, Troy "Tootie" Adkins, and Leroy Adkins, as well as one stepson, Timothy Franks.
Alta lived her life with a deep commitment to her family. She was a talented seamstress and worked many years at local sewing factories and after retiring, she spent her time as a dedicated wife and mother. She will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved her.
Survivors include her husband, Ronnie Franks, whom she married February 16, 1990; three daughters, Sherry (Terry) Mays, Trenda Roe, and Dianna (Calvin) Roe; three sons, Darrell (Mistie) Roe, Darrin Roe, and Rodney (Janet) Roe, all of Morehead; one stepson, Shawn Franks and one stepdaughter, Tara (John) Gist, all of Lawrenceburg, Tennessee; 11 grandchildren, Chelsea (Tyler) , CJ, Katie, Wayne, Dalton, Krista (Jordan), Casey (Jesikah), Braxton (Faith), Oscar, Will, Aaron (Kaleigh); and seven great grandchildren.
She is also survived by four brothers, Coy Adkins and Delmar (Rose) Adkins, all of Morehead, Jackie Adkins, Springfield, Ohio, and Everett Adkins of Decatur, Tennessee; two sisters, Mary Jo (Glenn) Maybry of New Lebanon, Ohio, and Bonnie Boggs of Murfreesboro, Tennessee; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted 3 p.m. Thursday, June 11, 2026, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with Elder Clyde Mayse Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in Adkins Family Cemetery in Elliottville.

Visitation will be from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Thursday, June 11, 2026, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals, 400 Fraely Drive, Morehead, KY 40351.
