Obituary

MOREHEAD - Alma Lois Ellington Bellamy, age 81, of Morehead, passed away Thursday, July 8, 2010, at the home of her daughter Lisa. Born February 1, 1929, in Rowan County, Kentucky, she was the daughter of the late William Taylor and Mildred Marie Williams Ellington. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Harold Ellington, James Lowell Ellington, and Donald Ellington. Alma-s husband of 57 years, prominent businessman and community leader, Harold Larsen Bellamy, passed away August 25, 2006. She is survived by their four children and spouses-Janet and Jeff Grubb of Morehead, Greg and Ana Bellamy of Lexington, Lisa and Jamie Brown of Morehead, and Toni and David Withrow of Morehead, as well as 12 grandchildren; and 4 great grandchildren. Alma received her B.A. degree from Morehead State University. She was a former Rowan County teacher at Tilden Hogge and Morehead Grade School, was an employee of G.T.E for 11 years, and ended her professional career with Bellamy Insurance. Alma was an avid U.K. basketball and NFL football fan. She enjoyed Red Hatter events, was a former league golfer and bowler, and for many years, she and Harold enjoyed ballroom dancing with various groups across the state. She was a member of the First Church of God. Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Sunday, July 11, 2010, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Allan Hutchinson, the Rev. George Murray Bellamy, and the Rev. Mark Caldwell officiating. Entombment will follow at Forest Lawn Mausoleum. Serving as pallbearers will be her grandsons, Ryan Kipling Bennett, Blaine Larsen Bellamy, James Gabriel Brown, Gregory Tyler Brown, Devon Scott Bellamy, and Cameron Mitchell Bellamy, and grandsons-in-law, Jacob Tyler Mincey and Nicholas Kent Havens. Honorary pallbearers will be her granddaughters, Ashley Claire Brown, Leigh Taylor Bennett, Blair Renee McKinney, Emily Cole Brown, Krista Marie McKinney Havens, and Alma (Allie) Whitney Brown and her great-grandsons, Brayden Mitchell Mirus, Gavin James Bellamy Mirus, Owen Cooper Reynolds, and Mason Bently Havens. Visitation is after 5 p.m. Saturday, July 10, 2010, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals, 400 Fraley Drive, Morehead. Visitation: Saturday, July 10, 2010, after 5 p.m. Funeral: Sunday, July 11, 2010, at 2 p.m. Interment: Forest Lawn Mausoleum
