Obituary

Alfredia Turner Markwell, 86, of Hayden, Alabama, formerly of Bluebank Road, Morehead, Kentucky, passed away Sunday, December 19, 2010, at her home next door to her daughter-s. She was born December 15, 1924, at Big Laurel, Kentucky, in Harlan County, and was the daughter of Turner and Regina Begley Turner. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by three sisters and one daughter, Peggy Joyce Markwell Howard. Alfredia-s husband, Everett Lee Markwell, passed away in 1971. Mrs. Markwell is survived by ten children, Rena Jewel Harris of Hayden, Alabama; Gloria Sue Corman of Davenport, Florida; Wanda Faye Stinson of Cedar Ridge, Georgia; Everett Lee Markwell, Jr. of Morehead, Kentucky; Nona L. Roush of Wilmer, Alabama; Anthony Markwell of Morehead, Kentucky; Monty Kim Markwell of Morehead, Kentucky; Thomas D. Markwell of Louisville, Kentucky; Anita Kay Markwell Cobb of Dothan, Alabama; and Douglas Markwell of Morehead, Kentucky; 38 grandchildren; 56 great grandchildren; and 34 great-great grandchildren. Other survivors include two brothers, Ben Scearse, Jr. of Pine Mountain, Kentucky, and Tommy Scearse of Indiana, and one sister, Willie Mae Lewis, of Tennessee. Mrs. Markwell was a former employee of the Keith and Davis Restaurant and the Eagles Nest, both in Morehead. She was a member of Bluebank Church of God. Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Friday, December 24, 2010, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with Pastor Andy Lands officiating. Burial will follow in the Baldridge Cemetery on U. S. 60 West in Morehead. Sons, grandsons, and sons-in-law will serve as pallbearers. Visitation is from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. Thursday, December 23, 2010, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals. Visitation: Thursday, December 23, 2010, from 6-9 p.m. Funeral: Friday, December 24, 2010, at 11 a.m. Interment: Baldridge Cemetery
