Alene Blankenship Engle, age 95, of Jeffersonville, Kentucky, formerly of Morehead, Kentucky, passed away Sunday, June 1, 2008, at St. Claire Regional Medical Center in Morehead. Born January 10, 1913, in Morgan County, Kentucky, she was the daughter of the late Garfield and Minnie Phillips Blankenship. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Boyd Engle, in 1953, and five children, Bobby Lee Lewis, Boyd Engle, Jr., Olive Lewis, Maxine Engle, and James Engle. She is survived by three daughters, Imogene Stegall of Fleming County, Kentucky Pearl Johnson of Gratis, Ohio, and Oleta Jones of Morehead, Kentucky; one son, Hayes Lewis, Jr. of Morgan County, Kentucky; one sister, Nannie Hughes of Independence, Kentucky; 28 grandchildren; and a host of great and great-great grandchildren. Mrs. Engle was a homemaker and a loving mother and grandmother. When she was able, she enjoyed cooking, sewing, gardening, and flowers. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, June 4, 2008, at 1 p.m. at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Jerry Williams officiating. Burial will follow in the Callahan-Lewis Cemetery in Morgan County. Pallbearers will be John Jones, Robert Stegall, Chris Stegall, Ray Stegall, Tony Stegall, DeLynn Lewis, and Ronnie Lewis.
