Rev. Albert McCalvin, age 81, of Olympia, Kentucky, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, January 30, 2011, at St. Claire Regional Medical Center in Morehead, Kentucky. He was born July 7, 1929, in Boyd County, Kentucky, and was the son of the late George and Mary Click McCalvin. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Clarence, Arthur, and Robert McCalvin, and four sisters, Blanche Salyers, Evelyn Ingles, Emmalene Roberts, and Lorene Williams. One son, Randall Dwayne McCalvin, and one daughter, Barbara Sue McCalvin, preceded their father in death. Rev. McCalvin is survived by his wife of 56 years, Hazel Fields McCalvin, whom he wed July 11, 1954; two sons, Albert Wendell McCalvin of Olympia, Kentucky, and Anthony -Tony- McCalvin of Bath County, Kentucky; one daughter, Janet Hendricks and husband Donald of Ashland, Kentucky; two grandchildren, Steven McCalvin and Angela McCalvin; three great grandchildren, Matthew, Zachary, and Victoria; and an -adopted daughter, Roberta Littleton of Ashland, Kentucky. Also surviving are three brothers, Mitchell McCalvin and Delbert McCalvin, both of Ashland, Kentucky, and Glenn Willis McCalvin of Holly, Michigan; three sisters, Kathryn Perfater of Ashland, Kentucky, Judy Hutchison of Kenova, West Virginia, and Edith Workman of Foster, Kentucky; several nieces and nephews; other family members; and many friends. Albert was a retired bricklayer and a member of Bricklayers Local No. 7 in Ashland for 56 years. A lifelong Christian, he was saved at the age of 13 and ordained as a minister in 1956 at the First Church of God in Ashland. Rev. McCalvin was the current pastor of Siloam First Church of God in Rowan County. He had previously served as pastor in several other churches, including the Johnson First Church of God in Morehead, the First Church of God in Tunnell Hill, Petersville, Grayson, and Mud Lick, Kentucky, as well as South Point, Ohio. Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Thursday, February 3, 2011, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Lowell Rice and the Rev. Fred Workman officiating. Burial will be at Rose Hill Burial Park in Ashland, Kentucky Nephews will serve as pallbearers. Visitation is after 5 p.m. Wednesday, February 2, 2011, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals in Morehead. Visitation: Wednesday, February 2, 2011, after 5 p.m. Funeral: Thursday, February 3, 2011, at 11 a.m. Interment: Rose Hill Burial Park, Ashland, KY
