Obituary for Philip Jon "Phil" Roznowski

Philip Jon “Phil” Roznowski, age 50, of Burns Road, Radcliff, passed away Saturday, October 27, 2018, at his residence after suffering an apparent heart attack.

Born June 15, 1968, in Bay City, Michigan, he was the son of the late Pete and Janice Borys Roznowski. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Kenny Roznowski.

He is survived by his wife of 21 years, Karen Sue Brown Whitt Roznowski, whom he married July 12, 1997; six children, Christopher Roznowski and wife Sabrina of North Carolina, Kristina Marie Whitt of Elizabethtown, Pete Roznowski and wife Taylor of Muncie, Indiana, Shawn Douglas Brown of Madison, Alabama, Cassandra Nicole Roznowski and Cynthia Ann Roznowski, both at home; three grandchildren, Alex, Cameron, and Abigail; one niece, Lexy Roznowski of Bay City, Michigan; one great niece, Sophia Patterson; his best friend, Jess Walsh of Yukon, Oklahoma; close family friend, Mary Thompson Philopulos of Bay City, Michigan; and other relatives and many friends.

Phil served his country in the U.S. Army for twenty years and retired as a Staff Sergeant in 2006. He received numerous medals and commendations including the Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal, Meritorious Unit Commendation, Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, South West Asia Service Medal w/Bronze Service Star and the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal. He was currently a supervisor at the U.S. Army Recruiting Command in Ft. Knox and was of the Catholic faith.

He enjoyed traveling, cooking, reading, playing golf and softball, fishing, listening to heavy metal and hard rock music, bowling, shooting firearms, and was a Pittsburgh Steelers and Detroit Lions fan. Phil will be lovingly remembered for always being able to bring a smile and laughter into a room. He will be greatly missed.

A celebration of life with be conducted 10 a.m. Saturday, November 3, 2018, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Arturo Molina officiating. Interment will follow at Brown Cemetery on Stamper Ridge in Elliott County with full military honors by Morehead American Legion Post No. 126.

Pallbearers: Christopher Roznowski, Pete Roznowski, Shawn Douglas Brown, Scottie Brown, Thomas Brown, Dale Smith, Juan Leon, Buddy Pennington, Joe Gilliam and Adam Howard.

Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday, November 2, 2018, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals in Morehead.
