Shirley (Stewart) Ellington

Shirley Stewart Ellington, age 81, of Cranston Road, Morehead, passed away Tuesday, October 15, 2019, at St. Claire HealthCare in Morehead.

Born March 19, 1938, in Rowan County, she was the daughter of the late William Jason Cox Stewart and Beulah Mae Reeves Stewart.  Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, William E. “Bill” Stewart and Joe Stewart, and two sisters, Mae Hall and Margie Lee Roberts.

Her husband of 52 years, James Lowell Ellington, whom she married September 9, 1955, passed away on July 11, 2008.

Survivors include two daughters, Cheri Waltz and husband Randy of Morehead and Carla Richardson and husband Jeff of Murfreesboro, Tennessee; five grandchildren, Randa Hall, Chris Waltz, Kyle Richardson, Cheri Richardson, and Megan Thomas; and 11 great grandchildren, James Avory Rogers, Katlyn Waltz, Hayden Rogers, Jacob Rogers, Carter Waltz, Audrey Woodward, Jett Richardson, Mya Hall, Reagan Richardson, Brycen Thomas, and Brecken Thomas.

Shirley retired from GTE after 30 years of service as a supervisor.  She was a member of Johnson First Church of God.

Funeral services will be conducted 3:30 p.m. Thursday, October 17, 2019, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Ben Furman officiating.  Entombment will be in Forest Lawn Mausoleum.

Pallbearers:  Chris Waltz, Kyle Richardson, Donnie Hall, Avory Rogers, Paul Thomas, Hayden Rogers, and Jacob Rogers. 

Visitation is 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday, October 16, 2019, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals, 400 Fraley Drive, Morehead, KY 40351.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Johnson First Church of God Oval Stidom Scholarship Fund or Johnson First Church of God Youth Group, 590 Cranston Road, Morehead, KY 40351.
