Shasta Lavon (Wescott) Conn

Shasta Lavon Wescott Conn, age 80, of Wescott Road, Morehead, passed away Tuesday, August 20, 2019, at her residence.  

She was born December 1, 1938, in Farmers, a daughter of the late Virgil Tea Wescott and Lillian Madeline Sorrell Wescott.  Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by an infant sister, Teresa Marie Wescott, and a half-brother, Forrest Wescott.

Shasta’s husband of 57 years, Virgil Creighton Conn, whom she married March 7, 1956, preceded her in death on August 6, 2013.

Shasta is survived by three sons, Gerald Conn and wife Cathy, Mike Conn and wife Lisa, and Pat Conn and fiancée Jessica, all of Morehead; eight grandchildren, Aaron Conn, Ethan Conn, Chris Conn, Jarelle Casey, Jamie Conn, Morgan Burkhart, Taylor Dixon, and Faith Conn; and nine great grandchildren, Corbyn, Creighton, Bella, Landri, Colton, Jaxx, Josie, Maddox, and Miles.

Other survivors include one brother, Terry Wescott of Louisville; four sisters, Rita Wescott of Lexington, Dorthula Alderson (Albert) and Danica “Donna” Stamper (Buck), all of Morehead, and Mada Poston of Salt Lick; as well as several nieces, nephews and extended family.

Shasta was a homemaker and retired floor manager from Cowden’s Manufacturing after 30 years of service.  She enjoyed caring for her flowers, going to yard sales, and taking frequent trips to the Dollar Tree in Mt. Sterling. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She will be greatly missed.

Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Friday, August 23, 2019, at the Slaty Point Baptist Church with Pastor Aaron Conn and Pastor Jamie Conn officiating.  Burial will follow at Slaty Point Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Chris Conn, Ethan Conn, Josh Burkhart, Travis Dixon, Tony Glover, and Darrell Glover.

Visitation is from 5 p.m.  until 9 p.m. Thursday, August 22, 2019, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals, 400 Fraley Drive, Morehead, KY 40351 and 1 p.m. until 2 p. m. Friday, August 23, 2019, at Slaty Point Baptist Church, 2400 Lower Licking Road, Morehead, KY 40351.
