Luther Carl Keeton, age 83, formerly of Morehead, KY, passed away on October 16, 2019, in Sellersburg, IN, where he resided in an assisted living facility the past two years.
Born August 6, 1936, in Rowan County, KY, he was the son of the late Clyde and Nellie (Johnson) Keeton. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Phyllis (Langworthy) Keeton, on March 26, 2017.
He is survived by his son, Randall (Marsha) Keeton of Salem, IN. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Bethany (Joseph) Keeling, Evan Keeton, Robin (Nick) Tharp and Jessica (Adam) Short and his great grandchildren, Emma Keeling, Natalie Dean, Ava Temple, Gavin Tharp and Aidan Short.
While Luther was an only child, Phyllis’ siblings were like his own and he is survived by sister-in-law Frances (Langworthy) Back and brothers-in-law James (Jo) Langworthy and Mark Langworthy. He was preceded in death by his brother-in-law Ryan Langworthy. He also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, cousins, former students, past congregation members and many friends.
Luther had a Master’s Degree in Education from Morehead State University. He taught business education at Fern Creek High School in Louisville, KY for more than 25 years. He also served as a Church of God (Anderson, IN) pastor and evangelist for nearly 60 years for numerous congregations in Kentucky, Indiana, Tennessee and South Carolina, most notably, Poplar Level Church of God in Louisville for nearly 15 years.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, October 19, 2019, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Dr. Gordon Steinke of Farmington Hills, MI, officiating. Burial will follow at the Benson-Craig Cemetery, KY 36, Craig Hill, Frenchburg, KY.
Pallbearers: Carlas Tufono, Kelly Tufono, Joseph Langworthy, Jimmie Walton, Dewayne Brown, and Ethan Brown. Honorary pallbearers: Chris Langworthy, Jon Langworthy, and Todd Trimble.
Visitation will be Friday, October 18, 2019, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. and on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals, 400 Fraley Drive, Morehead, KY 40351.
