Lena Mae Hamm, age 90, of Main Street, Flemingsburg, passed away Friday, December 6, 2019, at St. Joseph Hospital in Lexington.
Born November 20, 1929, in Rowan County, she was the daughter of the late Tom Jones and Rosie Kidd Jones. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd Chester Hamm, on December 17, 1970; three daughters, Linda Dunaway, Susan Hamm, and infant Clara Frances Hamm; one son, Ricky Eugene Hamm; three grandchildren, Christopher Dunaway, Jonathan Thompson, and Jamie Hamm; and two brothers, Elmer and Willie Jones.
Lena is survived by four daughters: Kay Hanshel and Phyllis Beagle, both of Flemingsburg, and Millie “Marie” Cunningham and Rose Dunn, both of Seattle, Washington; two sons, Lloyd “Bubby” Hamm and James Willis Hamm, both of Flemingsburg; 16 grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren; and 4 great-great grandchildren. She also leaves behind extended family and dear friends.
Lena was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother who loved her family dearly. She enjoyed keeping her home spotless, cooking, shopping and preparing for holidays, especially birthdays, Thanksgiving and Christmas. Until health issues occurred, she greatly enjoyed attending church, playing the piano, and singing. She will be lovingly remembered by her family and friends.
Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Wednesday, December 11, 2019, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with Brother Darry Cooper and Sister Beulah Weaver officiating. Burial will follow in Purvis Cemetery.
Pallbearers: Dan Hanshel, Brad Hanshel, Stephen Hanshel, Collin Hanshel, D. J. Rigdon, Scott Allen, Jordan Thompson, Jentry Thompson. Honorary pallbearers: Travis Banner and Lee Adkins.
Visitation is 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday, December 10, 2019, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals, 400 Fraley Drive, Morehead, KY 40351.
