Katie Katherine (Ball) Plank

Katie Katherine Ball Plank, age 87, of Buckner Branch, Morehead, passed away Friday, September 6, 2019, at her daughter’s residence surrounded by her loving family.

Born October 27, 1931, in Morehead, she was a daughter of the late William Green Ball, Jr. and Mary Margaret Helterbrand Ball.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sons, Zackery and Gary Plank; two grandsons, Michael Curtis Plank and Zachery Taylor Plank; a sister, Linda Stacy; a brother, William Leslie Ball; a step daughter, Helen Kiser; a step son, Joseph Plank; a half-sister, Mamie Newsome; and two half-brothers, Mitchell Helterbrand and Arlie Gilkerson.

Her husband, Robert Plank, also preceded her in death on October 18, 1992.

Mrs. Plank is survived by three sons, Curtis Ray Plank (Shari) of Brookville, Ohio, David R. Plank (Janie) of Morehead, Robert DeWayne Plank (Misty) of Olive Hill; two daughters, Lori Buckler (Billy) of Clearfield, and Doris Kidd (Paul) of Morehead; a daughter-in-law, Desiree Plank; 12 grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren.

Also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews and extended family members. A special thanks to caregiver Lily Whisman.

She was a homemaker and enjoyed quilting, gardening, going to yard sales, and cooking for her family and friends.  Katie loved her children and grandchildren and especially enjoyed family gatherings. She will be greatly missed.

Funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m. Monday, September 9, 2019, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with Reverend Vernon Gross officiating. Burial will follow in Adams-Plank Cemetery.

Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.

Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday, September 8, 2019, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals, 400 Fraley Drive, Morehead, KY 40351.
