Katie Botts (Porter) Kuhner

Katherine "Katie" Botts-Kuhner passed away on July 10, 2019, surrounded by her loving family at Gulf Coast Village Memory Support Center in Cape Coral, Florida.  She was 74 years of age.  Katie was born on February 27, 1945, in Morehead, Kentucky, to parents, Newton and Alene Porter and grew up with her brother, James R. Porter. 

She graduated from Rowan County Kentucky High School and attended Morehead State University. 

Katie married her late husband, Gary Dale Botts, on December 24, 1965.  She enjoyed a successful career in real estate as an agent with Robinson Realty and Ross Realty and opened her own real estate business in Ashland, Kentucky. 

She was a member of First Baptist Church in Russell, Kentucky.

She was a woman of many talents, showing particular interest in interior design and seamstress projects, as well as traveling and spending winters in Florida.  Katie was a confident southern lady with poise and personality that delighted her family and many friends. 

She was blessed in a second marriage to S. Wayne Kuhner, who treasured her beautiful spirit until her last moments of life.

She will be dearly missed by husband, S. Wayne Kuhner of Cape Coral, FL; children, Pamela Vance of Bella Vista, AR; Stephen Kuhner (Debbie) of Grayson, KY; Michael Kuhner (Tonya) of Pedro, OH; Deiadra Reel (Andrew) of Ave Maria, FL; and Rebecca Botts Smalley (Rodney) of Hendersonville, TN; as well as grandchildren Wesley, Wade, and Wyatt Rolin; 20 step-grandchildren; and 7 step-great grandchildren.

Katie was preceded in death by her first husband, Gary Dale Botts; brother, James R. Porter; step-daughter, Theresa Kuhner Browning; and step-grandson, Tyler Wayne Gust.

Visitation will be held at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals in Morehead, KY on Monday, July 22, 2019, from 6-8 p.m. with Wayne “Remembering Katie” at 7 p.m.   A memorial gathering will be held on Tuesday, July 23, 2019, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Russell, KY.  The service will commence at 1 p.m. at the church.
