Grace Catron Curtis, age 91, of Sharkey Road, Morehead, passed away Saturday, June 29, 2019, at the Life Care Center in Morehead after an extended illness.
She was born July 17, 1927, in Carter County, a daughter of the late Henry “Buck” Catron and Geneva Lambert Catron. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Elbert Curtis, who passed away January 18, 2015, and her daughter, Joyce Ann Curtis Combs, on August 8, 2011.
Grace is survived by her son, Clinton Curtis and wife Rita of Sharkey; son-in-law, Randy Combs of Lexington; four grandchildren, Matthew (Kendra) Curtis of Georgetown, Kelley (Brandon) Griffith of Hustonville and Kevin and Carly Combs of Lexington; six great-grandchildren, Collier, Tate, and Kendall Curtis and Aidan, Andrew and Paisley Griffith.
Other survivors include a sister, Janice Helterbrand of Haldeman; four brothers, Dennis Catron and wife Evelyn and Randall Catron and wife Louise, all of Sharkey, Chester Catron and wife Frances of Oak Grove Road, and Talmadge Catron of Big Brushy, as well as several nieces and nephews who loved her dearly. One sister, Ailene Hampton and four brothers, Bennie, Elbert, William, and Glennis Catron preceded her in death.
Grace was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother whose life centered around her family. Nothing could bring a smile to her face faster than seeing a baby, as she adored all babies. Grace also enjoyed gardening, nurturing flowers, participating in senior games and homemakers, and visiting with her beloved family and friends. She was a member of the Salt Lick Christian Church.
Funeral services will be conducted 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 2, 2019, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with Bro. Calvin Lindell and Dr. Robb Barlow officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers: Randall Catron, Dennis Catron, Shannon Catron, Chester Catron, Matthew Curtis, Daryl Grannis, Kevin Combs, and Brad Frizzell. Honorary pallbearers: Great grandchildren.
Visitation is 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Monday, July 1, 2019, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals, 400 Fraley Drive, Morehead, KY 40351
