Deborah J. "Kat" Oviedo

Deborah J. "Kat" Oviedo, age 57, of Little Perry Road, Morehead, passed away Saturday, January 5, 2019, at St. Claire HealthCare in Morehead.

Born May 26, 1961, in Clearfield, she was the daughter of the late Curtis Sloan and Virginia McClurg Sloan North. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by an infant sister, Brenda Carol Sloan.

Debbie, as her family called her, is survived by her husband, Rodolfo Martin "Rudy" Oviedo, whom she wed April 14, 1983; her stepfather, Jimmie North of Hillsboro, Ohio; special cousin, Millicent Johnson of Morehead; extended family and friends. She also leaves behind "Gen Gen," her Chihuahua, whom she adored and named after her mother and aunt.

Deborah graduated from Rowan County High School in 1979, attended Morehead State University, and earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Northwestern University in Chicago, Illinois. She worked as a registered nurse in hospitals in the Chicago area and retired from of Our Lady of the Resurrection in Chicago, Illinois. She was also a teacher of phlebotomy and a licensed practicing phlebotomist. Debbie returned to Morehead in 2000 and enjoyed her role as a homemaker, listening to her scanner, and hosting Kat's Scanner Scoop on Facebook. She was a member of Solid Rock Apostolic Church.

A celebration of life will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday, January 8, 2019, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with Pastor Daniel Carter officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens.

Members of the Hayes Crossing-Haldeman Volunteer Fire Department will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Mike Williamson and Bill Shely.

Visitation will be 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Monday, January 7, 2019, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals, 400 Fraley Drive, Morehead, KY 40351
