Clyde Caudill Obituary

Clyde Richard Caudill, age 79, of U.S. 60 West, Morehead, passed away Sunday, December 29, 2019, at his home.

 

He was born October 6, 1940, at Sharkey in Rowan County, a son of the late Willis C. and Flora Mae Smoot Caudill.  Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Teddy Caudill, Osborne Caudill, and Franklin Caudill, and two sisters, Martha Caudill and Gail Williams.

 

His wife, Florence Ineze Kelly Caudill, whom he married March 20, 1968, also preceded him in death on July 16, 2019.

 

Richard is survived by three children, Dan (Rhonda) Kelly; Ann Logan; and Joe (BJ) Caudill, all of Morehead; 7 grandchildren, Amy Kelly, Jason Hall, Megan (Rob) Drake, Lyndsey (Chris) Rice, Ryan (Haley) Logan, Paige Caudill, and Jamie (Eric) Brooks; and 11 great grandchildren.  

 

Other survivors include two sisters, Jean Sorrell and Anna Belle Kelly, both of Morehead; several nieces and nephews; extended family members and many friends, including his church family. 

 

A U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War, he was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Marksmanship Badge, and Purple Heart. He retired from Morehead State University after 33 years of service with building and grounds.

 

He loved spending time with his family, especially his 11 great grandchildren. He also enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening, canning, cooking, drawing, telling a good joke or story, history and government.  Clyde was a member of Sharkey Baptist Church and loved working for the Lord, helping at the church, and visiting the sick with Pastor Harley. He will be missed so very much! 

 

Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Thursday, January 2, 2020, at Sharkey Baptist Church with Pastor Harley Sexton, Jr., Pastor Elijah Sexton, and Pastor Mark Caldwell officiating.  Burial will follow in Slaty Point Cemetery with full military honors by Morehead American Legion Post No. 126.

 

Pallbearers:  Eric Brooks, Chris Rice, Rob Drake, Jason Hall, Ryan Logan, and Mason Kelly.

 

Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday, January 1, 2020, at Sharkey Baptist Church, 2555 Sharkey Road, Morehead, KY 40351.
