Charles Oney, Jr. (June), age 88, of U.S. 60 East, Salt Lick, went to be with the Lord Thursday, August 22, 2019, at St. Claire HealthCare in Morehead surrounded by his loving family.
Born October 20, 1930, at Bruin, in Elliott County, he was a son of the late Charles “Charlie” Oney and Hazel Evans Oney. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Roscoe Oney and Stanford Oney, and three sisters, Dottie Webb, Bessie Blevins, and Elizabeth Blevins.
Charles is survived by his wife of 67 years, Thelma T. Oney; three sons: Larry Lee Oney (Barbara) of Lexington, Gary James Oney (Gloria Amparo) and Phillip Charles Oney (Xiaomin), all of Salt Lick; one sister: Helen Sue Griffith of Lorain, Ohio; eight grandchildren: Stephanie, Joshua, Jamie, Maria Christina, Benjamin Charles, Abigail Grace, Hannah Lynn, and Maiqi; five great grandchildren: Jaxon, Lillian, Anna, Ava, and Koda, as well as extended family and friends.
Charles was a U. S. Marine Corps veteran. He was a former steelworker in Lorain, Ohio, and a retired member of Plumbers, Pipe Fitters and Mechanical Equipment Service Local Union No. 392 in Cincinnati, Ohio. Following his retirement, Charles enjoyed gardening, golfing, hunting, and playing Poker at the “chicken house.” He always took great pride in providing for his family. Charles will be lovingly remembered by his family and friends.
Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Friday, August 30, 2019, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with Thelma T. Oney and Jeff Fannin officiating. Clavis and Edith Dickerson and family will be singing.
Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers: Jamie Oney, Benjamin Oney, David Blevins, Buck Bennett, Doug Crouch and Ricky Lewis.
Visitation will be 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, August 29, 2019, and after 11 a.m. Friday at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals, 400 Fraley Drive, Morehead, KY 40351.
