Ada Cooper Obituary

Ada Elaine Caudill Cogar Cooper, age 82, of Sunset Road, Hillsboro, passed away Sunday, May 5, 2019, at the Life Care Center in Morehead.

She was born October 17, 1936, in Morehead, and was a daughter of the late Davis F. Caudill and Leota Thornbery Caudill. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Ira Wilbur Cogar, who passed away July 10, 1990; two sisters, Frances Caudill Summers and Ruby Caudill Johnson; three brothers, William H. Caudill, Sherman D. Caudill, and Curt E. Caudill; and two step grandchildren, James Paul Cooper and Jeremy White.

Mrs. Cooper is survived by her husband, James E. Cooper, whom she married October 16, 1994; one son, Ira Allen Cogar and wife Angie of Morehead; three daughters, Monaleisa J. Damron of Wyandotte, Michigan, Angela L. Carr (Jim Hardinger) of Ypsilanti, Michigan, and Sandra Ortiz and husband Orlando of Melvindale, Michigan; two step daughters, Kimberly Kay Cooper of Dallas, Texas, and Jimmie Beth White of Vienna, Ohio; one sister, Regina Caudill Stevens of Morehead; 10 grandchildren, Jason Ortiz, Jesse Ortiz, Timothy Delong, Candace Marsee, Robert Haney, Crystal Carr, Raymond Carr, David Cisco, Justin Cogar, and Casandra Cogar; and three step grandchildren, Christopher Cooper, Heather Hutch, and Jessica Johnson; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

She was a former nurse's aide at Beverly Manor Nursing Home in Michigan and a former foster mother for special needs children for many years. Ada was a homemaker and member of Johnson First Church of God in Grange City. She enjoyed quilting, crocheting, cooking, working in her flowers, gardening, and singing gospel music, especially in church.

Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Thursday, May 9, 2019, at Hutton Funeral Home in Hillsboro with Pastor Lee Jent and Pastor Butch Kelsey officiating. Burial will follow in Hillsboro Cemetery.

Her grandsons will serve as pallbearers.

Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday, May 8, 2019, at Hutton Funeral Home in Hillsboro.
