Pauline Deaton Obituary

Pauline Brandenburg Deaton, 84, of Morehead, formerly of Lexington, passed away Sunday, January 21, 2024, at St. Joseph Hospital in Lexington.

Born November 6, 1939, in Lee County, she was the youngest child of the late Lloyd Brandenburg and Emily Begley Brandenburg.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by all her siblings.

Pauline was united in marriage to Alex G. Deaton on October 13, 1956. Together they shared 46 wonderful years and were parents to three children.  He passed away December 21, 2002, at the age of 65.

Survivors to cherish Pauline’s memory include one daughter, Cynthia “Cindi” Johnson (husband Jeffrey) of Morehead; two sons, Rick Gerald Deaton (Tabitha Deaton) of Lexington and Gregory Alan Deaton (wife Kim) of Orlando, FL; three grandchildren, Melissa Deaton, Megan Alvey (husband Kyle), and Ben Deaton; and three great grandchildren, Makayla, Caleb, and Emma Kate. A wonderful, loving sister-in-law, Judy Deaton Turpin, whom she loved dearly and was so thankful for throughout her (and A.G.’s) lives. She also loved and reached out to many other family members often.

Pauline retired from the KY Department of Revenue after working in the Department of Motor Vehicles in Frankfort for 20 plus years as an administrative assistant.  She exhibited her strong work ethic, moral principles, and positive attitude in both her professional and personal life on a daily basis. Pauline was a lifelong learner, an avid reader, and social person.  She treasured all her family, whom she loved unconditionally, and especially enjoyed creating cherished memories with her grandchildren as “Grandma” and “GiGi.”  She was a faithful member of the Gardenside Christian Church in Lexington for more than fifty years.  She will be greatly missed and remembered with love, will be always watching over us, along with A.G. We all need Angels amongst us. We have two of the best. We are blessed.

A Celebration of Life for Pauline will be held at a date to be announced by the family this Spring.
