Marjorie Elaine (Gray) Burrows

Marjorie Elaine Gray Burrows, 85, of Morehead, died Friday, January 19, 2024, at St. Claire HealthCare in Morehead.

Born in Springville, NY, on November 29, 1938, she was a daughter of James Henry Gray Jr. and Helen Anne Ormsby Gray. She was preceded in death by her parents and two siblings, Winifred Bessie “Betsy” Gray and Marilyn Pam DeMarchis.  Her surviving brother James H. Gray III and his wife Marjorie reside in Charlotte, NC.

On December 20, 1958, Marjorie married her high school sweetheart, Duane E. Burrows, who died on February 1, 2023, at the age of 85. They were married for 64 wonderful years.

While residing in New York, they enjoyed successful careers, volunteering for charitable organizations, and immersing themselves in family activities and community organizations. Marjorie was a Registered Nurse at United Colony Nursing Home in Gasport, NY, and Duane a Model Maker for Harrison, a Division of General Motors, in Lockport, NY.  Marjorie and Duane moved to Morehead in the summer of 2014 to be closer to their family.

Marjorie is survived by a daughter, Joanne E. Burrows, and son, Dr. Craig H. Burrows, and his wife Brenda Burrows, all of Morehead, KY; four grandchildren: Dr. Rachael Kelsey and husband Sean, Caleb Burrows and wife Tori, Luke Burrows and wife Elaina, all of Morehead, KY, and Dr. Josiah Burrows and wife Dr. Morgan Sindall of Lexington, KY; five great grandchildren: Oliver Kelsey, Liam Burrows, Claire Burrows, Natalie Kelsey and Caroline Burrows.

In addition to attending the children’s sports activities, school plays, and family events and celebrations, Marjorie enjoyed reading historical fiction and sewing.

A celebration of life will be held at 4 p.m. Friday, January 26, 2024, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with Pastor Wade Muncy officiating.
